DJ Thread – Double Set
The “Double Set” I’m releasing tonight is comprised of 54 minutes recorded from a private stream to a few of my friends, followed by a 2 hour set I did for the DNBRadio crowed which hovered at around 100 listeners. I’m an addict, I tell you. See the torrents.
Back to Bittorrent
Since I’ll probably be doing dnb sets with some regularity… and I really don’t think it would last very long if I stored them all on the web server, I’ve set up Blog Torrent to make sharing my sets easy. If you’re not familliar with bittorrent, I’d recommend Azureus to get started.
So now, the sets only last as long as they are seeded. Please help out and seed these files if you can.
Threadbox.net Blog Torrent Site
Update: Yeah, Blog Torrent is actually really cool. All you do is upload the php files. No configuration required.
If you have an RSS reader (like Firefox’s live bookmarks or the Sage extension) then you can add the RSS feed from the blog torrent page and easiliy find out when I’ve added a new set.
DJ Thread on DNBRadio.com!!
When the Decompression Sessions were cancelled due to Freezha not being able to drive in the nasty Denver weather tonight, I finally decided to figure out how to stream my Mixxx to dnbradio.com. Yes, that’s right… I just did my first set on dnbradio. It wasn’t all easy, though, because I had to make a small hack to the Oddsock JACK client where I increased the constant for some “ring buffer” to make it not completely crash on me seconds into streaming out the data to the server.
I didn’t record it because I didn’t want to have to reconnect an extra pair of jack connections every time mixxx decides it feels like disconnecting from jack. This is a long-standing bug with mixxx that sometimes happens very often, and sometimes not at all… tonight it didn’t happen once! (While I was on the air, anyway.)

DJ Thread – Chillax
Man, you have no idea what I go through to bring these mixes to you. Sometimes Mixxx crashes, sometimes my computer freezes solid (might be due to my VIA chipset which has been known to freeze on occasion), and Mixxx will forget my entire track list every time it crashes… so I have to put them in my text pad app, and dig around through my messy collection of music far more often than I should have to.
I sincerely hope Mixxx continues to improve . . . I really enjoy using it for the most part.
On a more positive note, I think I may have just mixed one of my best sets yet, even if the title is sorta lame. I’ve been turned on to a few new tracks recently, and I think I did them an adequate sampling here. I hope you all like it. Please post some feedbacks. :)

Decompression Sessions
No Dozha tonight, but consider this an excellent 2 hr set with your favorite DJ’s Serpico and Freezha. Starting chilled for the first hour, Seripco ends his set with the latest tune he produced himself. Then Freezha comes in and throws down some seriously hard tracks. This show is always a good time! Tuesdays at 10p EST!
Update: Sorry, but I no longer have the server resources to host this file.
DJ Thread – To Make You Swing
Here’s the next one. This time it’s a little smoother style dnb with some vocals. While it’s not the most mellow dnb style you’ve ever heard before, I was aiming for a non bash-your-face-in sound. Without further ado, I present

Update: Yeah, there’s a spot and a half maybe where the beatmatching skillz could have been stepped up a bit, but I just like this bunch of tunes and had to post it up anyway. I need to beg Tue to help me out with getting Mixxx to slide the tracks forward/backward more smoothly. Right now, they move very quickly as soon as I start dragging, and it can make beatmatching trickier sometimes. I couldn’t speak to how any of this compares to real tables as I’ve never tried them first hand (but a time or two all too briefly).
Update 2006-04-04 – had to kill the link due to low disk space on the server… sorry :/
More Drum ‘n Bass
Ever since I started experimenting with Mixxx, I would mix some DnB when I had nothing better to do. I like to record myself doing it and then listen to it later at the comp or on the player to go. Most of them have a handful of pretty shaky switches, but this one sounds alright upon another listen. I wasn’t keeping track of my playlist, but it’s again some pretty bangin dnb, and 71:19 long to boot! (Oh, and I’m feeling lazy right now (it’s late), so there’s no torrent again. Just save the direct link.)
On an entirely different note, I just today received a new Logitech keyboard and mouse that I hope to talk about in the next day or so.
Update 2006-04-04 – had to remove the file due to tight space on the server…
Teh Decompression
I wasn’t gonna post this one cuz I’m a greedy lazy bastard, but somebody requested it… and quite frankly it was an excellent set, so here’s last Tuesday’s Decompression Sessions. Again, no torrent due to my laziness. (And also I doubt enough people will use the torrent to even make it worth it; this web server is plenty fast.)
Update: Sorry, but I no longer have the disk space on the server to host this file.
Scottfro on DNBRadio
So I guess the set never made it onto Scott’s iPod, so I just took the liberty of cropping it off myself. It was a bunch of fun hosting the show. I think the dnbradio people appreciated the sound even though it deviated from the usual schedule of mixed dnb. Here’s the larger, uncropped version of a picture I took and here’s a link to the torrent.
Update: And for all you torrent deprived ppl, out of the goodness of my heart, I’ll give you a direct link. Oh, and upon another listen, you can actually hear me trying to say some stuff at the end of the set, but the mic levels weren’t right so you can barely hear me at all. Oh well…
Scottfro Appearance Scheduled
Scottfro is scheduled to appear on dnbradio.com tomorrow at or around 8pm EST. He’s got to hustle out from work at 7, grab his gear from the house, get out to my dorm room, set it up, and test it all before we can play. It will be tight, but we hope to come on at about 8. Of course if you miss it, that’s okay.. I’ll be recording.
Update: Scottfro finished his set on dnbradio a short while ago. I’m glad I ultimately got the chance to host him. It was something I had been talking about for a while, but only actually followed through on at the last minute as I’m moving out of the room the day after tomorrow. Scott has taken the set home with him for some tweaking, and will hand it back to me for posting tomorrow.
