Got Hitched; Visited Toronto

So Julie and I have just returned from our little vacation to Toronto, except this time, we call it a honeymoon! Yes, we made it official on the 10th of September at a charming farm venue called Misty Farms (which happened to be, by sheer coincidence, a mere half mile from my parents’ house). The wedding was very unique and awesome — my favorite pairing. We asked Marvin, a mutual college friend, to officiate it, and he not only kindly accepted, his speeches and ceremony were sheer brilliance. We had DJ Lufru mix chill out, dance, house, and dubstep. Beer and wine were drank from our guest’s souvenir mason jars with handles. Everyone danced the night away and had an excellent time. With all the compliments from the guests including comments that it was the best wedding they’d ever been to, I’m feeling that it was overall a supreme success.

I had been to Toronto once for a sixth grade field trip, but can’t remember much of anything except that I thought it was a cool city. This time, though, I got to return with the love of my life and enjoy all the major attractions over a leisurely 6 days. We stayed in an absolutely charming bed and breakfast, owned by Geoffrey Pimblett. The place was lined with art, furniture, and knick-knacks, and felt like a warm and homy place. Geoffrey and John, the man who cooked breakfast every morning, were both very kind, inviting, and made the stay very enjoyable. They even gave us a wholly unexpected liquor gift box on our last morning! (I guess they don’t get too many honeymooners coming through.)

We visited many places in Toronto including but not limited to the Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario Science Center, CN Tower, Casa Loma, and even made a trip out of town a bit to check out the Niagra Falls, take the Maid of the Mist tour boat, and walk around the nearby town of Niagra on the Lake. It was a super enjoyable vacation, and if there weren’t so many other places in the world, we would do it again. :)

I’m so excited to really make my long-standing relationship with Julie official. We’ve been living together for practically 6 years now, and having a great time at it. Yay for us!

(Btw, Kara Purtell and her sidekick Daryl did a fantastic job with the wedding photography.)

  1. YAY! It was a pretty good time, babe :) Can we do all it again? If we renew our vows in a few years, we can do the whole reception thing all over again!!
