Wow… WTF, Facebook?!
What the heck are they trying to prove? As the home page for registered users, Facebook now features a giant “feed” that lists ALL activity for ALL of your friends. Now, you can see every time someone updates or comments on a photo, every time someone writes on someone’s wall, and even when you decline an invitation! I mean seriously, TMI, Facebook! One guy wrote an open letter featured on digg that says it quite nicely. I hope Facebook gets the picture and pulls the feature, or at least lets you permanently disable the global notification for your own postings. I think it’s just too invasive.

That’s exactly what I thought when I opened it up yesterday. Now friends with, even worse, relationship status changed. I found out this girl I was dating (or something, who knows haha) now ISN’T in a relationship..
The flip side of the coin is that you shouldn’t publish info like that that you don’t want your friends to see. That’s at least something that a facebook user can control, but showing who is now friends with who, who DECLINED friends, all that crap… not a good idea.
Heh, I must be the only one who really likes the new features. Other social networks have had this sort of functionality for a while now, and it seems to be working out for them. It’s sort of like how Last.fm shows what music your friends have been listening to recently or how Digg shows what stories your friends have been digging. The items that are in the "Live Feed" are nothing new. Previously, if you wanted, you could have found that information on your own. The Live Feed has just brought that information to you on one page so you don’t have to go searching. I do, however, think that it needs some tweaking. For example, I think users should be able to have it automatically ommit certain items such as relationship changes, but other than that I think it’s a possitive development for Facebook.

Just my 2 cents

Yea, that does sound a little over-the-top. Also, I found another <a href="http://www.blogworks.org/archives/2006/09/watching_over_f.html">blog about this Facebook issue</a>.
yes exactly @ Dan … they need the ability for a user to automatically omit certain types of events (or all events) from being broadcast to other users. Sure the info is still available, but maybe it wouldn’t be SHOVED in everyone’s face.
