Web Developer – Summer 2004 Quicken Loans, Rock Financial, Title Source

• Maintained and developed new applications for the intranet of world-class mortgage lender Quicken Loans. My biggest project over this summer was a Time-Off work flow tool that allowed any of the company’s 1500+ people to log into the intranet and request time off. The request goes to their team leader where it must approved. It then goes to HR where it is recorded in the payroll database. With plenty of reporting tools and automation, this application helps Quicken’s employees be more productive by making yet one more task electronic.

Web Developer – Summer 2003 Tap Internet, Inc.

• Helped develop large portions of a complex distance learning web application originally for the Tarrant County College in Texas. This system could be compared to Blackboard. Once finished and depoyed, the system was dubbed “LogiCampus” and was released under an open source license.
• LogiCampus was written in PHP with a MySQL database backend using Tap Internet’s LogiCreate PHP-driven web application framework. It provides a single sign-on for students, faculty, and staff. LogiCampus provides the standard tools for faculty to create their online courses, process assignments, make tests and stay in contact with students. Students enjoy being able to easily see their assignments, lessons and other information for all of their classes. Staff benefit by other applications such as the built-in help desk, textbook requisitions, exam scheduling and faculty / course changes.

System Admin and Web Developer – Summer 2002 JustTalk, Inc.

• Helped set up and troubleshoot computers around the office. Also helped maintain network services.

Co-sysadmin and Web Developer – 2001-Present Chain Communications, Inc. Ann Arbor, MI

• Helped manage linux servers that hosted many websites and email accounts. This often entailed writing web and system scripts in php and perl to do things such as send people pages when things happened on the server (like low hard disk space).
• Co-wrote the gig manager for the Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic. This system keeps track of all the students, parents, clients, gigs (performances), attendance records for the gigs, and more. It also handles manual and automatic announcements as well as provides an interface to print them so they can be handed to the students.

Principal – 2000-2001 Freelance Work Ann Arbor, MI

• Designed, developed, and implemented Web site for Detroit chapter of the Young Presidents Organization using Perl CGI to provide calendaring, voice meeting minutes recording, membership directory, and news
• Implemented a small business network utilizing a Linux file server with Mac, Windows 98, and Windows NT workstations connected. The Linux server also provided DHCP, DNS, and Internet gateway services.

Web Developer – Summer 2000 Engineering Services Group Southfield, MI

• Designed corporate intranet using HTML and DHTML in a Microsoft IIS environment. Performed Windows 95/98 workstation installations

• Provided technical support for employees at corporate office
• Set up payroll communication software on approximately 50 affiliate computers around the country using PC Anywhere and telephone interaction

Other Activities

• Designed, wrote, and maintained personal web site which contains a fully PHP driven system for posting news and comments with a MySQL backend written from scratch.
• Designed, wrote, and maintained the threadbox.net/pixel website for the PIXEL computer group that I founded at Saline High School. This site contains a PHP/MySQL system for maintaining member information, a member account administration system, a news posting system with follow-up support, a member project information system, and a link maintainance database.
• Wrote a PHP/MySQL “Dev-Wiki” for the Gentoo Linux project. This site is capable of keeping track of developers’ todo lists. A todo can be marked “public”, if desired, allowing other developers to click an “I’ll do it” link to move the todo over to their list. This system was designed with the intent of making developing for Gentoo Linux both fun and organized.
